welcome

Plymouth Hunt Monitors & Saboteurs have been actively campaigning against all forms of bloodsports for over 15 years. As a group it has saved many animals from a cruel and unnecessary death, by using tactics which do not harm any animal, including the hunt’s horses and hounds.

Most of our groups activities are based in the counties of Devon and Cornwall, but we do occasionally travel further a field to join up with other groups in Somerset and Dorset. There are also other monitor/sab groups in Torquay, Cornwall and East Devon.

We mainly monitor/sabotage ‘houndsports’, which is the hunting of an animal with a pack of hounds (illegal) and not one or two dogs (legal). The houndsports we mostly sabotage are: foxhunting, hare hunting and mink hunting. We also campaign against other bloodsports such as Stag and Deer hunting, Shooting, Hare Coursing, Badger Baiting, Fishing and Dog & Cock fighting.

Plymouth Hunt Monitors & Saboteurs puts most of it’s efforts into
SAVING animal's lives. We are also active with other local and national like-minded groups to make the public aware of all aspects of animal cruelty and promote a more ethical lifestyle. Why not email us and get involved!

The Hunt Ban

On the 18th February 2005 a law was finally passed which made hunting with hounds illegal [Hunting Act 2004] and whilst this was a day we had campaigned towards for many years it is certainly not the end of the fight.
Devon and Cornwall Constabulary have stated that the policing of this ban will be given low priority and so there is much work to be done to ensure that hunts do not ignore this law and continue their activities unchallenged.

While some hunts seem to be genuinely adapting to following a false trail others are using loopholes and exceptions within the Act to blatantly disregard the law, there have already been numerous occasions where hunts have claimed to have ‘accidentally’ killed a fox while engaged in lawful activities such as hound exercise.

Plymouth Hunt Saboteurs remain dedicated to preventing the deaths of hunted animals by continuing to use non-violent methods of disrupting hunting activities when hunts disregard the law and will continue to intervene on behalf of the hunted animal to prevent needless deaths.

Since the ban came into force Plymouth sabs have been out following hunts as normal and are putting into practice both overt and covert methods of observing hunt activities and have been using video cameras to gather evidence of any illegal activity so that prosecutions can be brought against hunts.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Information is needed on any hunts in your area; locations of hunt meets are particularly useful. We already have many people residing in rural areas who keep us updated with information on what their local hunt is up to, you can join this network by getting in touch with us via e-mail or text us on: 07779 518101 to notify us of any information you feel will be relevant, past or present.

Do you have any unwanted equipment, which could help us save animals lives? We urgently require Video cameras with a decent zoom function. Many people have upgraded to digital, so if you have an unwanted analogue camera gathering dust we can make use of it. Other vital equipment we require to use in monitoring hunts includes Dictaphones, compasses, mobile phones, binoculars and hand held GPS receivers. If you can offer any of these items please get in touch.

Donations of money are still required to help cover the cost of petrol, the purchase of maps and videotapes. Along with other evidence gathering equipment, etc. ggggggggggggggggggggg Please make cheques/POs payable to 'A Pollock'
